The Coquille Valley Art Association began in 1950 with a small group of women who were interested in painting. At the suggestion of Maude Wanker, a Lincoln city artist, they formed a nonprofit organization and extended invitations to others interested in art of any form.
A short time later the group purchased the old Valley View School, a two classroom schoolhouse built in 1927.
In 1956 the schoolhouse was moved to its present location on Highway 42, where it commands a view to stimulate any artist. We feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful facility in which to have classes and pursue our artistic endeavors.
We call our organization the Coquille Valley Art Association; however, our group has active members from all over Coos, Curry and Douglas counties.
Come by and see our gallery or join a class. All classes are designed to accommodate artists from beginner to advanced. In addition, workshops by visiting artists are held throughout the year. Class days and times may vary from the posted schedule so if you are a new student please call the instructor for more information.
It is a nice site, would you please send me some of your brochures. I am completely out. When I have visitors, they always ask if we have an Art Center. Also, I have various requests for information about coquille that I mail out.
The public is invited to stop by Monday through Friday from 10 – 3pm. Artists in Action event is scheduled for Saturday June 20th. Come meet local artists, ask questions, join the fun!

Nice site!
I have posted a link from the Community Page on my site at Coquille Community News. I also placed an item in CCN’s weekly newsletter.
Good Luck!
